The Orsay Museum exhibits much of the most famous impressionist art of the 19th century, the museum's rooms are divided into individual painters, styles, and sculptures. In addition, it has an auditorium for musical performances and concerts.

The building is divided into three floors, which chronologically order the displayed works. Besides hosting a large collection of paintings, the architecture of the building is part of the art itself, as it is an old and very striking construction. In 1973 it was declared a National Monument.
