The Orsay Museum displays much of the most famous Impressionist art of the 19th century; the museum's rooms are divided by painters individuals, styles and sculptures. In addition, it has an auditorium for musical performances and concerts.

The building is divided into three floors, which arrange the exhibited works chronologically. In addition to housing a large collection of paintings, the architecture of the building is part of its artistry, as it is an old and very striking construction. In 1973, it was declared a National Monument.
