Alfred and his girlfriend, Eugénie Lescouzec, spent the summer of 1897 at the Osborne Hotel in Langland Bay, eventually getting married in Cardiff.
The lovely couple often enjoyed walking and talking on this small beach, after which this work is named (Lady's Cove), now known as Rotherslade Bay in Wales.
