It is an oil painting depicting the marriage of Isaac and Rebecca, from the Baroque period by Rembrandt.
Due to a famine, Isaac (son of Abraham and Sarah) and his wife Rebecca moved to Gerar, governed by King Abimelech. Fearing for his life because of Rebecca's beauty, Isaac claimed she was his sister, not his wife. Eventually, King Abimelech discovered the truth by observing their loving interactions. Abimelech, surprised by Isaac's lie but desiring to avoid the sin of touching another man's wife, rebuked Isaac for the deceit and ordered his people not to harm them. Thus, Isaac and Rebecca remained in Gerar, living peacefully and prospering under the king's protection.
Currently, it is part of the collection of the National Museum of Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum).
