L'Amour et Psyché, enfants, Bouguereau

This is one of the painter's most famous works, known by its French name "L'Amour et Psyché," or "Cupid and Psyche as Children" in English. It has been mistakenly titled "The First Kiss," which belongs to a work from 1873.
In this piece, William-Adolphe Bouguereau's use of soft brush strokes and velvety blues aims to depict childlike love, innocent and full of hope for what is to come, far from the madness of carnal passions, filled with rivalries, jealousy, and petty violence.

Currently, the painting is part of a private collection and is not on public display.
